| Our Defining Values |
Every member of Fellowship Bible Church is considered a part of its staff since the Bible indicates that every believer is a priest unto God (1 Peter 2:9) and responsible for ministry to others. Though some of our members hold seminary degrees, this in no way sets them apart as more spiritual or capable of fruitful ministry than others who live their lives under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. However, upon visiting Fellowship Bible Church, one will probably notice certain individuals as more visible for the roles they play in the functioning of the church's daily life. Below you will find a brief introduction to some these: The Elders The New Testament employs three basic terms in describing those entrusted with the leadership of the local church. In contemporary language these terms have come to be translated as elder, overseer, and pastor (shepherd). The words are used interchangeably in the New Testament and refer to those men who are mature in the faith and are willing to stand on the front lines of the battle for the faith and see to the welfare of the church. Being an elder, or pastor, was not considered a profession in the early church. Just as the elders generally worked other jobs for their daily livelihood, so each of our elders works at a job outside the church. The Scriptures indicate that there was generally a plurality of elders in each local church. At Fellowship Bible Church we presently have four elders. Terry Manahan

|
Just as each of us has one body with many
members, and these members do not all have the same function, so inChrist we
who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We
have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is
prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is
serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;
8if it is encouraging, let him
encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give
generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing
mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Romans 12:4-8 |
